Today, 1st February 2021, the new United Nations envoy to Libya, Jan Kubis, officially takes up his duties as the new United Nations envoy to Libya at a time when the country is living a new phase in the way of the final solution to the Libyan crisis
On 15 January, the United Nations Security Council approved the appointment of Slovak diplomat Kubis, almost a year after the vacancy. Thus, his appointment was after the resignation of former envoy Ghassan Salama for health reasons, and Bulgarian Nikolai Mladenov for family purposes.
