Abdulrahman Al-Sawahili, the representative of the so-called Council of State at the political meeting, said that Libyans should be allowed to choose who represents them and to choose how the selection process would be based.
Libya would not be ruled by a single person or entity. The Constitution must be upheld by the people and elections should be held.
In an intervention on Tuesday at Geneva Political Dialogue Forum, he pointed out that only legislative elections (without the presidency) would be held on 24 December.
The agreement must be reached with legislative elections, a referendum on the Constitution, and presidential elections under the Constitution.
He added: “We will not allow anyone to use the opportunity to jump into Libya’s power. Nobody can threaten December elections.’’
