Following the withdrawal of Libyan army forces to Sirte in the summer of last year, the allied militias of the Government of the National Accord opened the door to the return of extremist organizations in Libyan Western cities. Eyewitnesses said that groups of ISIS terrorists had once begun to be stationed in the mountainous region between the cities of Tarhuna and Masalata.
