The New GNU Condemns Bachaga’s Assassination Attempt

 The new President of the Presidential Council, Mohamed El – Manifi, and the President of the Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid Dbaiba issued a joint statement on Sunday evening on the attempt to target the motorcade of the Minister of the Interior of the Government of National Accord, Fathi Bachaga.

The statement said: “The Presidential Council and the President of the Government of National Unity followed up on the incident of Mr. Fathi Bachaga, Prime Minister of the Interior of the Government of National Accord, on Sunday afternoon.

The Presidency of the Council and the Head of Government emphasized:

• Strong condemnation and disapproval of this incident
• Urgently call upon the judicial and police authorities to open an impartial and transparent investigation into the circumstances of the incident and to prosecute the perpetrators and emphasize that there is no impunity for all those involved.
• The stabilization process that we have embarked on is full of challenges and stalkers. We must not let them have room for discord, sowing and obstructing this march that we have taken together to promote Libya.
• We call upon all parties at this critical stage to exercise restraint and to work together to establish the truth and to hold accountable all those who violate the law through the competent judicial and security authorities.
