The UN Mission Welcomes The 5-5 Meeting In Tripoli

The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) welcomed the meeting held by the Joint Military Committee 5 5 last Tuesday for the first time in the capital, Tripoli. In this regard, the mission stated on Twitter that this meeting is another strong message from the committee and an indication of the strength of the efforts made.
The meeting, which was held at the Maitika military base, was attended by the commander of the US military command in Africa, General Stephen Townsend, the Prime Minister of the Interim Government of National Unity and Defense Minister Abdel Hamid Al-Dabaiba, and the US special envoy to Libya, Richard Norland. For its part, the US embassy praised the meeting, saying: “The meeting is a historic step in bringing Libyans together, especially in the security field.”
