Today, Wednesday, the members of the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum (LPDF) discuss the selection mechanisms for the country’s president in the upcoming elections, scheduled for 24 December.

The session takes place through Video meetings in the presence of representatives of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya.

The Legal Committee of the Dialogue Forum varied in the manner in which the new President should be elected. Also, the majority consider that he should be elected by direct secret ballot, while the terrorist Brotherhood argued that choice should be made by appointment by the House of Representatives.

The Libyan political forces demand that the proposal of the Brotherhood movement not be taken for granted, because it denies citizens’ right to choose their representative. Also, the proposal places the position of the President at the center of political parties.
