US Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced today (Saturday) that his country rejects the Russian sanctions imposed on European officials. Moscow committed this action in response to the sanctions imposed by the European Union.
“We join the European Union leaders in condemning the Kremlin’s entry ban on officials from the European Union. This is another attempt by Moscow to intimidate the critics,” Blinken said in a tweet.
He added, “Along with our partners and allies, we seek a constructive relationship with Russia, but it must respect the international obligations.”
It is worthy to mention that Moscow decided to impose sanctions on 8 European officials, in response to the sanctions imposed by the European Union on 6 Russian citizens last March, for suspected violations of human rights.
