The office of the new Israeli Foreign Minister, Yair Lapid, announced a scheduled meeting today (Sunday) for the first time with his American counterpart, Anthony Blinken, and Bahraini Abdul Latif Al Zayani, in Rome.

The meeting of Lapid and Zayani is the first direct diplomatic communication between a member of the new Israeli Government, which was sworn in two weeks ago, and a Gulf minister.

The Israeli Minister for Foreign Affairs is scheduled to visit the Gulf region next Tuesday, where he will attend, in particular, the opening ceremony of the Israeli Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Israeli Consulate in Dubai.

This will be the first trip of a prominent Israeli minister to the Gulf region since the Hebrew state signed a peace agreement with the Emirates and Bahrain last September.
