Pope Francis arranges to meet today (Thursday) with ten prominent Lebanese Christian clerics to discuss the difficult economic and political situation in their country.
Pope will host church leaders meeting at the inn of Saint Martha in the Vatican, in his place of residence, before participating in a “special day of prayer and meditation for Lebanon.
He stated that in a tweet via Twitter: “I invite everyone to unite with us spiritually in prayer so that Lebanon rises from the dangerous crisis. Lebanon is going through and shows once again its face, the face of peace and hope.”
Since 2019, Lebanon has witnessed an economic collapse. Thus, Pope Francis has repeatedly prayed for an accelerating Beirut. As a result of the explosion of Beirut Port last August that killed more than 200 people and destroyed entire parts of the city.
